Journey details
We will pick you up at your accommodation in San Pedro de Atacama and head into the Salt Mountain Range to visit Vallecito, a peaceful desert area known for its lunar landscapes, open views and photogenic formations. During the experience, we will walk among dunes, salt textures and selenite-covered rock formations while your guide shares the geological history of this part of the desert. We will also visit the Magic Bus area, one of Vallecito’s most recognizable photo spots. As the afternoon light changes, we end the experience with a relaxed sunset cocktail with snacks and drinks before returning to San Pedro. Alcoholic beverages are only served to adults, and non-alcoholic options are available.

Itinerary
Departure from San Pedro: Afternoon pick-up from your accommodation in San Pedro and transfer to Vallecito, located in the Salt Mountain Range. Hike through the Valley: Walk among dunes and rock formations covered in selenite, admiring lunar-like scenery and the silence of the desert. Sunset & Cocktail: Enjoy a panoramic sunset over the Salt Mountain Range with a cocktail of cheeses, snacks, and drinks. Return to San Pedro: Return to San Pedro de Atacama at dusk after enjoying the peaceful desert atmosphere.
Recommendations for your trip
Bring comfortable closed shoes, sun protection, sunglasses, a hat and at least 1 liter of water per person. A light jacket is recommended for the return after sunset. Stay on marked paths and follow your guide’s instructions.

Both are located in the Salt Mountain Range and offer desert landscapes, dunes and mineral formations. Vallecito is usually quieter and more open, with a special focus on photography, the Magic Bus area and a relaxed sunset cocktail.
Is the Vallecito tour physically demanding?
No, it is a low-difficulty tour. It includes short walks on sand and uneven desert terrain, so we recommend comfortable closed shoes and walking at a relaxed pace.
